Man to be sentenced for killing of journalist in Dublin

A 22-year-old Dublin man is to be sentenced later today for killing journalist Eugene Moloney with a single blow to the neck.

Gary Burch of Kennington Close, Templeogue pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of the 55-year-old on Camden Street on June 24, last year.

CCTV footage from Camden Street shows Gary Burch doing a celebratory dance after landing the fatal punch that killed journalist Eugene Moloney.

The trainee mechanic later told Gardaí it was a "moment of craziness", and he said he did not try to help the 55-year-old lying on the ground because he did not realise how seriously he had been injured.

Gary Burch has no previous convictions and he will be sentenced today.
