Donnelly wants phone records of other banks scrutinised

An Independent TD is demanding that the internal phone systems of other bailed out banks be scrutinised.

It comes after a second tranche of recordings were released by the Irish Independent today, this time featuring the former Chief Executive of Anglo Irish Bank David Drumm warning other executives not to get caught out abusing the State guarantee.

The Government is insisting the legislation needed to hold an inquiry into the banking collapse will be ready by the autumn.

Independent Deputy Stephen Donnelly said the phone records for other banks should also be listened to.

Mr Donnelly said: "Something that has occurred to me listening to these, when I calmed down like everyone else in the country, the question for me now is 'Where are the other tapes?'

"Where's the Bank of Ireland tapes? Permanent TSB, Irish Nationwide. Let's make sure we hear what these guys were saying as well."
