A man has appeared in court in Limerick charged with possession of a gun made from steel piping.

A man has appeared in court in Limerick charged with possession of a gun made from steel piping.

19-year-old Gordon Ryan of Greenfileds, Rosbrien, Limerick, was charged with having the crude shotgun in suspicious circumstances on Sunday, June 23.

According to Gardaí the weapon was made from "steel piping designed to function as a 12-gauge shotgun".

Mr Ryan was arrested last Sunday after a man sustained around 20 pellet wounds to his face and body.

Mr Ryan was remanded in custody to appear in court again on July 2.
