Man airlifted to hospital after yacht overturns in race

A man has been airlifted to hospital after a yacht overturned during a race in Dun Laoghaire harbour in Dublin.

The vessel was taking part in the ‘Route des Princes’ round-Europe competition when it capsized just after 3pm this afternoon.

Ten people were on board and one member of the crew has been airlifted to Tallaght hospital where he is said to be seriously injured.

Today’s leg of the race has now been cancelled.
