A man has been charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a special needs woman in Dublin on June 12.

A man has been charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a special needs woman in Dublin on June 12.

The woman in her 20s was on the South Circular Road on the afternoon of Wednesday June 12, accompanied by a family member, when they became separated.

She was walking along the South Circular Road towards Harrington Street between 4pm and 4.15pm when she was accosted by a dark-skinned male.

Gardaí say that they both walked in the direction of Victoria Street and Lennox Street.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, June 17, and detained at Kevin St Garda station.

He has been charged and will appear before a District Court in Dublin this afternoon.
