Three fishermen rescued off Donegal coast
Three fishermen have been rescued after their boat sank off the Donegal coast.
The alarm was raised at 1.30pm this afternoon.
The men were rescued from the water a short time later by another fishing boat that was in the area.
Two lifeboats and a rescue helicopter were tasked as part of the rescue operation.
The men were airlifted to Letterkenny General Hospital. All three are said to be fine.
Joe Joyce, spokesman for the Lough Swilly Lifeboat which was involved in today's rescue, spoke to Highland Radio.
"It was a good outcome," he said. "Thankfully, there was another boat there in the area.
"Even though it's summer, the water is quite cold. Hypothermia would be a big issue."
