Man charged with murder of Polish national

A 47 year-old Polish man has been charged with the murder of Bogdan Michalkiawicz in Letterkenny in Donegal last month.

Dariusz Weckowicz appeared before Carndonagh District Court this afternoon. When the murder charge was explained to him, Mr. Weckowicz replied “I did not kill this man. I am more than 100% sure of that.”

Mr Michalkiawicz was murdered sometime between May 13 and 15 at Westside Apartments on the Lower Main Street. He suffered numerous stab wounds in what gardai describe as a vicious assault.

Dariusz Weckowicz was remanded to appear before Harristown District Court on June 21.
