Two men walk away from Offaly plane-crash wreckage
Two men escaped serious injury when their light aircraft crashed in Co Offaly today.
Gardaí and the Air Accident Investigation Unit are probing the cause of the crash, near an airfield in Birr, Co Offaly, this afternoon.
A Garda spokeswoman said two men, including one in his 60s, walked from the wreckage and have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The scene is close to where flight instructor Niall Doherty and advanced learner Damien Deegan, both 31, died when their Cessna 150H came down in scrubland.
The friends had been flying circuits with the grass landing strip in sight when the crash happened on the afternoon of November 11, 2012.
