London riots suspect faces extradition hearing in Dublin

A British woman wanted for allegedly throwing petrol bombs at police in the 2011 London riots has appeared at the High Court in Dublin.

Jacqueline Stanton is facing extradition after she was detained in Kildare and brought to court on a European Arrest Warrant.

Ms Stanton is wanted in the UK for prosecution on charges of violent disorder and burglary.

It is alleged she threw a petrol bomb at police in Hackney during the London riots in August 2011.

Sgt Sean Fallon told the High Court he arrested the 33-year-old at an apartment in Monasterevin in Kildare at 8.20am this morning.

When charged and cautioned he claims that she replied: "I'm sick of being on the run, I threw it but didn't hit anyone".

Dressed in dark trousers, a black vest top and jacket, Ms Stanton did not speak during the brief hearing.

She has been remanded in custody until Tuesday when her lawyers will apply for bail.

At their request, Judge John Edwards recommended that she receives appropriate medical attention at the Dochas centre.
