A portion of the Tralee/Newcastle West road is expected to remain closed for the next two hours after a school bus caught fire.

A portion of the Tralee/Newcastle West road is expected to remain closed for the next two hours after a school bus caught fire.

The incident happened on Barna outside Newcastle West in Co Limerick at 6.30pm.

The children were off the bus when it happened and there were no injuries according to Gardaí.

Newcastle West Gardaí said that traffic will be diverted onto the old Barna road.

Heavy goods vehicles are not allowed to travel on the old Barna road.

Therefore, HGVs are being asked to travel on the N69 coastal road or wait in Newcastle West until the road reopens.
