Woman's body found in Limerick city

The body of a woman has been found in a field next to the River Shannon in Limerick city.

The discovery was made by a man out walking his dog in the Kileely area of the city.

There are reports that the body was semi naked when found.

A wooded area surrounding where the body was found has been sealed off.

The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem will be carried out at University Hospital Limerick.

A large area near the scene remains sealed off this lunchtime as a garda forensic examination continues.

Gardaí have appealed for information.
