One man dead, teenager critical in Cork after separate swimming accident

One man has died and a teenager is critical in hospital after two separate swimming accidents in Cork over the weekend.

A man in his 20's died after getting into difficulty while swimming in the River Lee in Cork last night.

A teenager remains in a critical condition in hospital after an incident near Knocknagree.

The man in his 20s was swimming in the river Lee at Iniscarra near Dripsey when he got into difficulty late last night .

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man's body was recovered in the early hours of this morning.

Meanwhile, a teenager remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning after a separate swimming accident in Co Cork yesterday evening.

He got into difficulty while swimming in the River Blackwater near Knocknagree shortly before 6pm yesterday.

He was rushed to Kerry General Hospital where his injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
