Woman killed in Mayo road collision

A woman has been killed and a man injured in a fatal road crash earlier today at Sheenaune, Westport in Co Mayo.

The collision, involving a car and a truck, happened at around 9.10am this morning on the main (N5) Westport to Castlebar road.

The 24-year-old female passenger of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the 33-year old male car driver was taken to Mayo General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The road has been closed for a Forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
