A Romanian woman has won a High Court case to force the state to correct her name on her teenage daughter’s birth certificate.

A Romanian woman has won a High Court case to force the state to correct her name on her teenage daughter’s birth certificate.

The error arose because 40-year-old Maria Caldaras, who is a member of the Roma community, can not read or write and did not know she was given the incorrect birth certificate on leaving her home to seek asylum in Ireland.
