Cabinet approves legislation on Seanad referendum

The Cabinet has approved legislation to hold a referendum to ask the people if they wish to abolish the Seanad.

The legislation will be formally published next week along with a package of reform measures that would be implemented if the decision is taken to scrap the upper house of Parliament.
