RTE to air undercover documentary on creches tonight

The Prime Time Investigates documentary on creches, 'A Breach of Trust', is to be broadcast tonight.

The program raises concerns about the standards of childcare in Ireland based on evidence gathered from HSE Inspection Reports, internal HSE documentation and undercover filming in two Dublin creches and one in Wicklow.

The Links in Abington, Malahide; Giraffe Creche in Belarmine, Stepaside; and Little Harvards in Rathnew were identified as having standards in care that breached HSE regulations and childcare guidelines.

The footage reveals various degrees of mistreatment of young children including them being shouted at, handled abruptly and being unnecessarily strapped into their chairs.

RTE has confirmed that the program will be broadcast at 9.35pm.
