ISPCC to highlight day of remembrance for missing children
A day of remembrance and solidarity for missing children across the world will take place today with events being held here in Ireland.
The ISPCC will highlight 'International Missing Children's Day' by placing a focus on the needs of families who have not been able to locate their loved ones.
22 countries across Europe operate a missing child hotline to assist families who find themselves in this situation.
Director of Services with the ISPCC, Caroline O'Sullivan said that today is about marking the impact a missing child can have on a family.
"There are 22 countries across Europe that have a missing children hotline so there is different events happening all across the world," she said.
"In Ireland we are marking it by recognising the impact of having a missing child by a parent or missing family
"Today is really about recognising the loss, the pain the fear and the anger that is experienced by parents themselves."
