Fianna Fáil is to table a motion of no confidence in the Justice Minister in the Dáil next week.

The Finance Minister said that he believes Alan Shatter has addressed the issue of his stopping at a Garda check point and as far as he is concerned the matter is over.

Michael Noonan also said he has full confidence in Alan Shatter who he describes as one of the most reforming Ministers in a long time.

He also said the statement issued by Minister Shatter yesterday evening is sufficient.

"It's the end of the matter as far as I'm concerned but it's not the end of the matter as far as the opposition are concerned

"Fianna Fáil has put down a vote of no confidence in the Minister for private members time next week so that will be dealt with in the normal way by the government

When asked if he had confidence in the Minister, Mr Noonan responded: "Absolutely, I think he is a great Minister the most reforming Minister we have had for a long time."
