State gets more time to prepare for Dundon challenge

The State has been given time to prepare for a High Court challenge by Limerick man John Dundon over his trial for the murder of Garryowen rugby player Shane Geoghegan.

The trial is scheduled to begin on June 4 at the Special Criminal Court, but the 30-year-old, formerly of Hyde Road, wants it put back until next year.

His lawyers say the defence need more time to deal with the vast quantities of documents and CCTV footage gardaí served on them.

The High Court challenge has been scheduled for May 30.
