Man faces extradition to Northern Ireland on terrorism charges

A 24 year old man wanted in Northern Ireland on terrorism charges has appeared in the High Court.

Patrick Malachy Gordon with an address at Newtownhamilton Road, Armagh was detained on a European Arrest Warrant this afternoon.

If extradited Patrick Malachy Gordon is facing prosecution on four terrorism charges in Northern Ireland.

It is alleged that on February 17, 2010 he had a handwritten note listing material suitable for use in the manufacture of 'Napalm-type' incendiaries.

It is also alleged he had electronic files containing a diagram of a pipebomb and instructions on how to make incendiary bombs.

Gordon has been remanded until June 4 to Portlaoise prison where he is currently serving a sentence.

Sgt Jim Kirwan gave evidence that when Gordon was detained today asked if he knew what the charges in the European Arrest Warrant were about he replied that he didn't.

The court heard he is not consenting to his surrender north at this stage.
