Ambulance which was called to scene of toddler's fall 'was called off'
It has emerged an ambulance that was dispatched to attend the scene of a toddler's fall from a second storey window in Cork was stood down.
Two-year-old Vakaris Martinaitis fell from an upstairs window at his home in Midleton last week and died two days later.
The director of the National Ambulance service told the HSE yesterday that the ambulance which had been sent on foot of the first 999 call was called off by a dispatcher.
An investigation into the matter is expected to be completed within two months.
