Gardaí arrest two in Dublin cold case murder probe
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Dublin over 11 years ago.
David McCreevey, aged 23, was shot dead outside his neighbours house in Tallaght in February 2002.
At the time of his murder, McCreevy was out on bail awaiting trial on charges arising from a Garda crackdown on heroin dealing.
He had been arrested in connection with the seizure of €150,000 worth of heroin and cannabis earlier that year.
He was shot five times in the body and face as he left his parent’s home just after 9am on February 1, 2002.
The gunman had been hiding in a nearby van.
He emerged as McCreevy left for work and opened fire before making his escape on the back of a high-powered motorbike.
Two men in their 30s were arrested this morning by special detectives as part of an on ongoing investigation into his murder.
They are being held at Tallaght Garda station where they can be questioned for up to 72 hours.
