More then 40,000 people from all around the country put their trainers on before dawn this morning to take part in the 'Darkness into Light' walk in aid of Pieta House.

More then 40,000 people from all around the country put their trainers on before dawn this morning to take part in the 'Darkness into Light' walk in aid of Pieta House.

The annual event is now in its fifth year and raises much needed funds for the suicide and self harm prevention centre.

In Dublin alone, over 10,000 took part in the walk in the Phoenix Park.
