Outer space reality TV show taking off
More than 78,000 people have applied to permanently move to Mars.
The applicants, who are from 120 different countries, are part of a project from new reality TV series from Dutch non-profit organisation Mars One.
The group have opened a two-year selection process to find people who want to start a new settlement on the planet.
Co-founder Bas Lansdorp said: "With 78,000 applications in two weeks, this is turning out to be the most desired job in history.
"These numbers put us right on track for our goal of half a million applicants."
