Bus Éireann 'open' to last ditch talks to avert strike

Bus Éireann says it is open to talks aimed at averting Sunday's planned strike action.

Earlier, the National Bus and Rail Union said the time for talking is now because there is no telling how long the strike could last.

Management at the firm say they are always open to dialogue but warned that overtime and premium payments need to be cut.

Bus Éireann spokesman Andrew McLindon says the unions are yet to put forward any viable alternative.

"We are open to talks any time, any place but the trade unions need to put credible and viable alternatives on the table to have proper discussions with them.
