A man is being treated for serious head injuries at a Galway hospital after a crash this morning.

A man is being treated for serious head injuries at a Galway hospital after a crash this morning.

He was travelling in a van with three other men at about 6.30am when they hit a bridge on the road from Nenagh to Loughrea, at the Portumna Bridge.

The injured man has been taken to Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe. The other three men were uninjured.

Gardaí in Portumna have closed the road for a forensic examination.
