Polic dog eats hamster during raid

A police dog ate a guy's hamster during a raid.

The pooch gobbled up the pet after reportedly setting it free by knocking its cage over when the authorities were carrying out a raid on a home in Oldham, north west England.

While no changes were brought against homeowner Musa Khan in connection with the raid, he was prosecuted by the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals after the emergency services discovered a bald parakeet in his abode.

Khan pleaded guilty to failing to prevent suffering and he was fined £110 and told to pay £400 costs, despite defence lawyer Tim Hughes insisting the bird was "on the up and up" thanks to the defendant.
