Gardaí launch murder probe into Dublin shooting
Gardaí in Dublin have launched a full murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a Lithuanian father-of-one at a cash-for-clothes facility in Rathcoole.
The victim, who was in his 40s and known to Gardaí, was shot in the chest at the premises at Grant's Crescent in Greenogue Industrial Estate at about 9.30am this morning.
He was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are liaising with his family here and abroad and a full post-mortem examination will take place later this afternoon.
Superintendent David Taylor says gardaí are looking to trace the movements of an Audi hatchback which may have been used by the gunman.
He said: "Investigating gardaí are particularly interested in a silver Audi A3. It is a five-door hatchback with a partial registration of 05 TN.
"Did you see this vehicle in the vicinity of Grant's Crescent or Greenogue Industrial Estate between the hours of 7am and 10am this morning?"
A liaison officer has now been appointed to the victim's family and a post-mortem examination will be carried out on the victim's body by the Deputy State Pathologist this evening.
Gardaí in Clondalkin are appealing to the anyone with information to contact the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
