There are 347 patients on trolleys nationwide this lunchtime - up 29 people on yesterday's figures.

One hundred and forty eight of them are stuck in hospitals in the East. The rest are spread out over the country's other regions.

Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown is accommodating 42 patients on trolleys, while 41 are being looked after at Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
