Carers Association in new appeal to see grant cut reversed

The Carers Association is appealing for the public's support to pressure the Government to reverse the respite care grant cut.

The group also wants the Government to stop cutting home help hours for family carers, and to ensure they are not hit again in the next Budget.

Head of communications at the Carers Association Catherine Cox said that the aim of the Give Carers a Break campaign is to keep carers at the top of the Governments agenda.

"Unfortunately what often happens is, you know, is that things get forgotten [with] other groups maybe protesting about other issues," she said.

"So we want to try and keep this issue very clearly on the Government's agenda."
