Female assassin admits IRA membership

Female assassin, Rose Lynch has admitted membership of the IRA, telling the Special Criminal Court, "I am guilty, but I'm very proud of that."

The 50 year-old from Oakleigh Wood in Limerick is being sentenced for the murder of David Darcy in Ballyfermot two years ago.

The Court has been told Lynch and a male accomplice 'staked out' the victim's home, before opening fire with a revolver and a shotgun.

Lynch told Gardaí she carried out the killing because she believed Mr Darcy was responsible for the death of somebody else.

Gardaí say the father-of-two was a 'wholly' innocent and unfortunate victim.
