Minister seeks clarification on issues in penalty points report
The Minister for Justice Alan Shatter has said he has sought clarification on a number of issues contained in a Garda report on the quashing of penalty points for TDs.
Mr Shatter ordered the report after it emerged that a number of TDs had their points cancelled.
Last week, Minister Shatter told the Dáil that the report will be brought to Cabinet before it is published.
Speaking at a Big Data event in Dublin this morning, the Minister said he is still waiting for clarification on a number of issues, and refused to give a date for publication.
He said: "I have received the report from the Garda Commissioner, there are some issues arising out of the report that I sought clarification on.
"Eventually, when the clarifications have been received and any legal issues arising from the report have been considered, I will be bringing the report to Cabinet and it will be published."
