Govt: Quarter of sex-trafficking victims in Ireland are children

The Department of Justice has said one-in-four victims of sex-trafficking in Ireland are children.

The Irish Immigrant Council has said that is one of the reasons it is starting a new social media campaign targeting young Irish men.

Its 'Real Men Don't Buy Girls' campaign will be launched in Dublin today backed by stars from the sporting and entertainment worlds.

The Council said: "Whether away for a musical festival, sporting event or stag party abroad there is no excuse for buying girls."

They said many of the girls are exploited and taken from their families at an early age.
