Dublin facing further water restrictions

Thousands of residents and businesses in Dublin face further water restrictions tonight as water levels in the city hit crisis point.

Water rationing will be in place again this evening from 7pm until 7am on Tuesday morning.

Dublin City Council will then review the situation tomorrow afternoon.

"There are very small things, small adjustments we can make in some of our daily activities which can really help to significantly reduce the volume of water we use," he said Council spokesperson Alan Breen.

"So a simple thing like running a tap for two minutes while you're brushing your teeth will waste 12 litres of water. Ten minutes in a power shower is going to use 250 litres of water.

"So minimising your time in the shower, only putting on the dishwasher and washing machine when they're full [can also save water]."
