Eight in court on dissident activity charges

Eight men are due to appear before the Special Criminal Court this evening charged in connection with dissident republican activity.

The men, aged in their 20s to their 50s, were arrested on Friday afternoon following the search of a premises in Clondalkin by the Garda Special Detective Unit.

A loaded firearm was recovered during the search which has been sent to Garda Headquarters for a forensic examination.

The men will be formally charged at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin at 5pm this evening.
