Investigation launched following Dundalk assault

Gardaí in Dundalk are investigating a possible stabbing incident in which a man has been seriously injured.

The victim, who was in his 30s, has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda by ambulance.

A garda spokesman confirmed a man had been assaulted, and while it was believed he had been stabbed, this has yet to be confirmed.

The incident happened at around half six this evening, while the man was reportedly sitting in or close to his car.
