NI farmers facing livestock losses as snow continues to fall

Farmers in the North are facing significant losses of livestock, many of which are buried under heavy snow, as the cold snap continues.

Food is being airlifted into farms left isolated by heavy snow, which has blanketed higher ground in Co Down and east Antrim since late last week.

The President of the Ulster Farmer's Union Harry Sinclair has said many animals have died, and those that have survived are weak and hungry because they cannot get feed to them.

He said farmers are searching places the animals shelter to try and find them.

Snow is also due in fall in parts of the east of the country today.
