A 26-year-old man has appeared before Tullamore District Court, charged with the burglary of an elderly woman's home.

A 26-year-old man has appeared before Tullamore District Court, charged with the burglary of an elderly woman's home.

Richard McCann, with an address at Harbour View, Tullamore is charged with the burglary and with handling two sets of keys stolen from the pensioner’s home at St Brigid’s Place, Tullamore on Monday.

He also faces three counts of drug possession, including one for sale and supply.

McCann was released on bail with conditions, including that he have no direct or indirect contact with witnesses in the case, and stay out of Co Offaly, except for court appearances.

The case was adjourned to April 10 for the Director of Public Prosecutions to indicate directions.
