Dáil to meet at 10.30pm to consider emergency legislation on Anglo debts

The Dáil will reconvene at 10pm to consider the emergency legislation relating to the Anglo Irish Bank Promissory notes, Government Chief Whip Paul Kehoe has confirmed.

It was earlier reported that a deal on the promissory notes was unlikely tonight as the ECB considered the Irish proposal.

Chairman Alan Dukes stated this evening that the board of the IBRC (formerly Anglo Irish Bank) has been stood down.

Designated persons from KPMG have taken control of the bank, he said.

The former Fine Gael leader is no longer chairman of the bank.
