A woman who became pregnant after a sterilisation operation and gave birth to a baby boy, who died after six months, has been awarded €100,000 in damages.

Karen Hurley Ahern of Assumpta Park, Newcastle West, Limerick sued her gynaecologist Victor Moore and the HSE, alleging negligence in how the procedure was carried out at Tralee General Hospital in Kerry in 2001.
