Marches in support of Fiona Doyle 'for all rape victims'

The daughter of rape victim Fiona Doyle has said her mother has paved the way for victims everywhere.

Kristel O'Brien was speaking after 72-year-old Patrick O'Brien had his bail revoked yesterday.

He was convicted of raping his daughter Fiona over a nine year period but walked free from court last week.

However, Mr Justice Paul Carney admitted yesterday it was "inappropriate" to release him and Patrick O'Brien began serving a three-year sentence.

Fiona Doyle will meet with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny next week and two marches will be held in Dublin and Bray tomorrow in a show of support.

Her daughter Kristel said they hope to provide support for other victims too.

She said: "It's not just about my mum, this is about everybody everywhere.

"Just as yesterday was just for my mum, and we have the public to thank for that, tomorrow is just for everyone.

"This is to change the laws so that it never happens to another woman again."
