Taoiseach opens European markets

Taoiseach Enda Kenny opened European markets this morning from Davos.

Deputy Kenny and Minister for Finance Michael Noonan are attending The World Economic Forum in Switzerland today.

The ceremony to sound the gong was broadcast live on CNBC Europe.

The Taoiseach will address a plenary session at the forum at 10.00am - he's expected to speak about his goals for Ireland's EU Presidency.

It was at the event last year that Enda Kenny gave a controversial interview, in which he blamed the Irish economic crisis on people who "went mad borrowing."
