A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

It happened at approximately 4.15pm this afternoon, at Laurence St. in the town, as the boy was going home from school.

He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Drogheda Garda Station.

An incident room has been set up at Drogheda Garda station and investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
