HSE urged to reverse closure of mental health home in Galway

The HSE is being urged to reverse a decision to close down a community mental health residence in County Galway.

The move would mean that residents at Toghermore House in Tuam would have to move to a facility in Galway city.

The HSE has said the closure is needed because the building does not comply with fire safety regulations.

However, Declan Breen of the Psychiatric Nurses Association has said the residents should be allowed to stay in the place they consider home.
