PSNI launch murder inquiry into teenager's death in Tyrone
A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a teenager in Co. Tyrone.
Nineteen-year-old Jason McGovern from County Monaghan was assaulted twice at two different pubs in the town on Sunday night.
He was found dead at a friend's house in Emyvale on Monday, New Year's Eve.
Post mortem results found he died from severe head injuries.
It is understood the teenager was attacked twice during a night out in Omagh in Co. Tyrone on Sunday, first in a pub on John Street at around midnight and then outside a nightclub on the Kevlin Road at around 2am.
Detectives are studying CCTV footage of the assault and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The PSNI are looking to speak to a man in relation to this alleged assault who is described as being of stocky built, with ginger or blonde hair.
They particularly want to hear from people who were in the area of the Terrace pub and Sally O'Briens nightclub or two men who helped Jason into a taxi after he was punched and kicked.
