Gardaí have said that the post mortem carried out on the body of a 19-year-old man - who was found dead in Co. Monaghan yesterday - shows he died of head injuries.

Jason Mc Govern from Tydavnet in Co. Monaghan was found dead in a flat in Emyvale yesterday afternoon.

Both the PSNI and the Gardai are investigating his death.

It is understood Jason was attacked twice during a night out in Omagh, in County Tyrone on Sunday night.

It is believed he was punched at a pub on John Street, at midnight and then hit again two hours later outside a nightclub on the Kevlin Road.

He made his way to a friend's house, where he was found dead just after midday on New Year's Eve.
