ESB works to reconnect 700 homes still without power after overnight storms
ESB crews say they are working quickly to restore power to homes, after many lost supply as a result stormy conditions overnight.
Seven hundred households remain without electricity after over 8,000 homes were affected overnight.
Most of the power outages were in the west of the country with Mayo bearing the brunt.
ESB spokesperson Bernadine Maloney said Clifden, castlebar and westport were the main affected areas, but that the ESB expected to have everyone re-connected by 1pm today.
She said anyone looking for upadtes on their power supply could go to the ESB network site's 'PowerCheck' page, or download the PowerCheck app.
Meanwhile, motorists are being urged to take care on the roads in case they come across any debris from the strong winds overnight.
The Road Safety Authority said this Christmas was one of the safest on our roads in recent years, in terms of road deaths.
