Loyalists threaten more flag protests

Loyalists in Belfast are threatening to carry out more flag protests this evening.

Posts on social media say loyalists will demonstrate in parts of Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Newtownards, Greenisland, Ballyclare, Carrickfergus and other towns across the North.

Violent protests have taken place across the North since Belfast City Council voted earlier this month to fly the Union flag on designated days only.

Police officers have been injured, politicians have been attacked and threatened and the demonstrations have badly affected retailers and businesses.
