Shannon Airport staff vote in favour of industrial action
Staff at Shannon Airport have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action, as they seek assurances on their future roles within the airport.
Around 200 SIPTU members are calling for written guarantees on their terms, conditions and security of employment after the Airport is seperated from the Dublin Airport Authority on December 31st - they have said that failure to receive this will trigger industrial action.
Seperately, SIPTU members working at Shannon Development have also voted in favour of industrial action and strike action, amid uncertainty over their futures - some of the agency's functions are to be transferred to the new company which will run the independent airport.
