Flood warning continues in south

Parts of Cork city were hit with flooding overnight because of a combination of heavy rain and high tide.

South Union Quay, Father Matthew Quay, Morrison's Island and Wandesford Quay were impassable at one point, but water is receding at this stage.

The AA said that Walsh's Quay remains flooded.

Arwen Foley of AA Roadwatch says other areas have been affected this morning in Kilkenny and Waterford.

"Gardaí are also warning of very wet road surfaces with excess surface water around Kilkenny and also on the Gorey to Wexford Road," she said.

"Irish Rail are reporting that flooding at Waterford station means that bus transfers are now in operation between Waterford City and Kilkenny and between Waterford and Carrick-on-Suir."
